Oh, and I'm trying to convince my dad I need him to buy me a blue, 1985 Volvo station wagon with less than 125K miles on it for my birthday present. It's less of an expensive present than it looks, seeing as it's $600, and my mom said she'd pay half. Of course, if they buy it for me, I'll have to learn to drive. Meh. Hmm. Nothing like a car that's only worth less than twice what my bike cost. (Cheap car, but also pretty nice bike, and it's more than half as old as the car.)
He tried to convince me to go with the silver bullet, the 1984 sedan my brother drives, but my brother claims women aren't allowed to drive it, my mother made retching noises when I mentioned the silver bullet (it doesn't shift quite right, and there's apparently a wire that's a little too short and so the car stalls sometimes randomly.). Plus, and most importantly, blue goes with my coloring better.
Jobwise--well, I think that I can forget about getting a job that pays for medical insurance around here, seeing as I can't even find full time positions. That said, there's an almost full-time position open at my favorite local museum (
http://www.packwoodhousemuseum.com, and yes, I plan to mention web editing skills if I get an interview.) as assistant to the director, which is office stuff and docent stuff and development stuff. freaking *perfect* for me, again. we'll see if they believe me. I have to call tomorrow to get the job description, and I guess figure out how I apply and all that. want job. well, one where I won't feel that the voices in my head are telling me to kill my coworkers, which eliminates Wal-mart.
