Jan. 23rd, 2003 12:02 pmwell, the good news is, McDonald's lost money for the first time ever. the bad news is, Bush picked possibly the worst person ever for the AIDS panel. And the senate backs relaxation of clean air regulations, though they had to take back the rule that let ERs limit the number of medicaid patients they treated.

We made our own one year. One of the girls in the suite wrote "you my bitch" on the reverse of a normal sweet, and taped it to one of the bedroom doors. :) We loved it, and i believe it stayed up all year.

Jan. 23rd, 2003 05:06 pmSo, I'd been thinking Amazon was so my bitch. Turns out they're so my bitchwhore. I placed an order a week ago. Down and Out, which wasn't out yet according to them, and two other books--A history of the Wife and the first Polyphony--which were listed as "Availability: Usually ships in 24 hours." Now, I'm used to these things taking a little longer than they're supposed to, seeing as I'm not paying for shipping. That's fine, I don't have any immediate need for them. I just got an email from Amazon telling me that Down and Out is shipped, and the other two still aren't. That's a really long 24 hours. I'm hoping they're not using biblical time.

Jan. 23rd, 2003 09:54 pm"The front swirling off North Carolina is expected to dump two or three inches in Hampton Roads, four or five inches along the Virginia-North Carolina line and at least half-a-foot on the Outer Banks--the first significant snowfall for the North Carolina coast in 13 years. Western Virginia is getting its share, with accumulations of up to five inches expected in the mountains."
13 years ago is when my grandparents had first moved to the Outer Banks. We spent Christmas eve in a hotel. 17 inches of snow. They didn't have snow plows. They had graders clearing the road. Jacksonville was as far as we made it, we had to stay there, and wait and hope the roads would be better in the morning. We moved the holiday over one day, and have pictures of us in tee-shirts and our Xmas gloves shoveling snow off the porch Dec 26th.
I am Jealous. It's freezing here, I want some snow at least.
