Jan. 24th, 2003 12:17 pmSo last night I complained that it was so damn cold but no snow--remember? Climbing the ladder into bed (loftbed), I glanced out the window and got lost for a moment. Light from the building across the street always reflects white off the top of the wall and cars, but this time the alley was gone. It took me a moment to realize what was up--I couldn't see the street, but the concrete parking patch right behind the building was still there, but the oil stain on it was gone--I blame it on exhaustion and having taken out my contacts, but it literally took me a couple of seconds to figure it out. It *had* snowed. Not a lot, just a quarter inch or so, but enough to cover the bricks in the alley and the concrete patch (which, as a light colored item hadn't changed that much, just lost the dark stain), and the cars. So pretty.
I loved living in MI because it would snow a little bit almost every day or so, so the snow was always gorgeous and fresh looking. Yes, it was cold, but cold is allowable when there's snow. It's just freakish cold and no snow that I complain about.

The friday game, now in surround sound.
Jan. 24th, 2003 02:04 pmWearing: Grey v-neck from gap, with sleeves too long that I have to cuff;
indigo jeans; slides. Outdoors, add a pair of leggings below the jeans, fuzzy
white socks, sneakers, indigo burberry jacket that isn't really windchill
resistant, white scarf around neck, red scarf over hair (cause i can't find my
hat, damnit), gloves that aren't really meant for this weather either.
This weekend: Hmm. Cleaning up, probably. I wanted to do outside things, but
it's going to be freaking cold, so probably I'll just write my big old butt
off. I want, ideally, to be shipping out four stories next week: Bough to
Asimov's, Wounds to Polyphony3, Building to FSF, and Taste of Salt to
Scifi.com. They're all finished, most just need tightening and polishing, no
massive reworking. I'm just so bad at sentence level stuff now. I also need
to think about revising in the reworking sense one of my pieces or writing
something new so I have things to put up on the workshop because everyhing
that's up will be coming down.
Reading: Down and Out is en route, though probably won't get here this
weekend. Likewise, another Zoe Barnes. I have some cheesy romances. I have a
novel written by a friend which I need to crit, a lot of pieces up on the
workshop that I need to crit, and I should probably return crits as I had a lot
of feedback on Taste of Salt in particular, and it's just polite. Either
return crits or paid forward crits. *sigh* Plus, I have stacks and stacks of
books lying around waiting for me.
