So, I'd been thinking Amazon was so my bitch. Turns out they're so my bitchwhore. I placed an order a week ago. Down and Out, which wasn't out yet according to them, and two other books--A history of the Wife and the first Polyphony--which were listed as "Availability: Usually ships in 24 hours." Now, I'm used to these things taking a little longer than they're supposed to, seeing as I'm not paying for shipping. That's fine, I don't have any immediate need for them. I just got an email from Amazon telling me that Down and Out is shipped, and the other two still aren't. That's a really long 24 hours. I'm hoping they're not using biblical time.

When you go with the free shipping they take their own sweet time about sending it out, despite what they it usually ships in. I think the "usually" is for people who pay shipping or something...

Yes, it's annoying. And it's made me less willing to pay shipping because there's no promise they'll get it on its way sooner, and why pay extra for quick transport if they're going be slow about mailing it???
