On Difficult Daughters

Sing to me, oh muse, of the unsung heroines of history.
Who praises the efforts of the daughters?

No one ever thanked Copernicus's daughter
for provoking him to that point.
Where would modern science be
had she not pushed him past his breaking point.
What would have happened had she not
compelled him to say that fateful phrase,
the phrase that struck such a chord in him?
Who could have guessed so much would
depend on a simple reprimand,
an admonishment to think of others first.
"The universe does not revolve around you"
he said, and the world changed.

(this was the poem that sparked this reply from my dad.)

BOO-yah!

But the difference between Copernicus' reply and, say, MY dad's reply to one of my sisters would have been a marked increase in the use of Standard Navy Profanity. Copernicus probably didn't get out to sea much...
