Dec. 11th, 2006 11:12 amMy brother suspects the laptop issue is a software driver issue--everything he ran on the laptop reported no errors, and as with me it loads up to a point on the normal boot, but just fine for the safe boot. We're backing up the hard drive and reformatting/reinstalling everything. Which will be the 4th time in 3 years, but at least this time it will be backed up instead of gone. After that's done, I may look into how much it would cost to get the heat sink looked at. why is that something you can't take apart from the outside of the machine? I can take apart the drive, pull the battery and ram, but the heat sink--even though it's venting right there on the bottom--isn't accessible except by pulling everything out of the computer. I would design computers to be very easily taken apart. It's more fun that way. (though, if I ever have to explain to my mother how to open the computer again, I'm throwing myself off of something. )
The room is probably 80% moved. I have to bring my clothes down and then clean the shelves where they'll be going. And there's some random other bits of things waiting to come down as well, but everything else is stacked up in my room waiting for me to figure out where they go and when. The shelves by my bed will also be cleaned, painted as necessary, and then filled with books. I HATE the color, but I'm going to need a serious painting plan for it, as the walls are, um, 13 feet? And bright yellow, so it may need primer too. I will test paint coverage when I start edging things this week. I also will have to figure out exactly where all my art work will hang--I'm thinking double layer on one wall, if not triple. It may or may not be the same size as my other room, but it's shaped differently, and there's now space for things like a chair. Infact, it really needs a chair since I don't have anywhere to sit now, since my bed's up above my head.
And speaking of above my head, I will be *buff* after a couple of months of sleeping up there, as it requires some upper body strength to get into it. Saturday night was *very* sad because I hurt so much from carrying heavy things, and tired as I was, I still had to drag myself into the bed.
