One of my coworkers has a fortune taped up on her name plate: "Education is less expensive than ignorance." Sure, says I, but I'll bet you ignorance has cheaper textbooks.

except that while you do have school loans, you *also* have increased earning power based on your college degree.

In theory. In practice, I'll notice that my highly educated parents didn't hit the 'look, we have disposable income' level until after I was in college.
