Aug. 2nd, 2002 02:19 amI just want a dress. One cute dress. Something I can wear to a wedding without embarssing myself. Eddie Bauer and J.Crew are only selling sleeveless spaghetti strap things. Not going to work. April Cornell looks like it's made for middle aged librarians with an allergic reaction to non-natural products (no offense meant to any middle aged librarians out there, but it's just not a look for me.) Laura Ashley has one very cute dress, even a nice color for me, but of course, it's clearance and out of stock. Grrr. J. Jill--what is this damn obsession with sleeveless?

Date: 2002-08-02 12:32 am (UTC)My solution for myself is to wear a sheer-ish silk shirt or jacket over something sleevless/spaghetti-strapped.

Date: 2002-08-02 05:01 am (UTC)a) I *need* to wear a bra. Yes, I know, the kiids these days wear spaghetti-strap shirts and dresses with their bras hanging out, but I was raised to believe that only two-dollar whores let their bra straps show.
b) My shoulders are my main self-injury site, so even when I'm not freshly wounded, I have some scarring there.

Date: 2002-08-02 06:50 am (UTC)Seriously, I try and avoid being blatant about it (ie, no spaghetti straps with bras underneath, but beyond that, if someone can't tell I'm wearing a bra anyways, they clearly need the visual reference of my straps.

Date: 2002-08-02 09:36 am (UTC)Now, at that store, I was too small even for the smallest size, but at another I was supposedly a size 18. Would it kill the fashion industry to standardize sizes? I mean, really?
