tanaiseJohn Kerry is back in town, I'm thinking. I saw a motorcade go by earlier--rather small so far as the black SUVs were concerned, but it had the three (so small, really,) of them, and one had an open side window and open back. it's the open back that's always the giveaway, really. and a *fleet* of press following him. seriously. It's the reason I decided it was Kerry, and not any of the ex-presidents. There was also a mini-motorcade that whipped past me on beacon street, but really it was just SS and a cop car. And there were helicopters all over the place, and baricades and cops around kerry's house (you can see his street from mine, and if there's a black SUV parked on it, it means he's home. I'm assuming the baricades are DNC bonuses.
The helicopters were very concerned with the ryder (moving) van parked in front of our house for several hours. SS kept coming over to talk to them, apparently. They were moving the Eyes Wide Open display out--it wasn't the boots, I got confused, but the multimedia portion of the event, that was here. The boots were in Copely Plaza, which is the space right by the library.
There was a big open grassy area, and they laid out the pairs of boots in a perfect grid. I mean *perfect*. it's meant to suggest Arlington, and it reminded me, though I've only seen pictures. it's just boots. Some old and worn out and falling over and some brand new and still shiny and perfect. Every pair of boots has a laminated piece of paper on one of those types of fasteners they use to fasten barbie into the box, or your breyers, or things like that. The piece of paper has a name, rank, age and state. They grouped the boots by state, 907 pairs as of today, and so I found the PA section after I came back from dropping my books at the library, and walked the length of the grid and back checking the names. There is not my ex-boyfriend, who may be over there. There are no classmates, as I think most of them have served their time and gotten out by now. There's no one I know. There's a 19 year old. There's a 35 yr old. There's a woman.
