Apr. 20th, 2004 04:09 pmThis is a refined form of torture. It's sooo similar to where I was working before, I'm just continually reminded of a) how much I hate admin work and b) how much I miss creative work. Meh! They're all laying things out and such, why can't I? meeeeehhhhh.
I have been introduced to the Tom-clone, who claims to have been told he looks 'just like someone" from college, etc before, and to have even worked with someone who looked like him. this is clearly fictious, so i've decided that it really is Tom, under the witness protection program. (For further support of my theory, if I remember correctly, Tom's middle name is Benjamin. And this boy is named Ben. Plus, they both have italian surnames (well, okay, so Tom didn't when I knew him, he does since he got hitched, which is close enough for government work.)
I wrote to Tom and told him my theory. We'll have to see if he replies. :)
My boss here is keeping me for more days. On the one hand, this is money. On the other hand, this is torture. TORTURE!!!!
But it's just a street away from Newbury Street, and just two sides of a block from the tea store i found that I would like to marry. (or at least the cute counter boy. mmmmm.) I've had Chai the past two days now. Or, um, today and Sunday. I keep thinking it's Monday. I haven't previously been a big chai fan, but perhaps I've been assuming all Chai is like starbucks chai. *covers Dena's ears* I hate Starbucks. *uncovers* Hmm. Actually, I don't think I've had starbucks Chai. Cosi--I've had theirs, and it's always been too bitter. Not of the 'just add a little sugar' type, of the 'blech, what is that spice" variety. Which is odd, because in theory I should love Chai. And this stuff, I do love. After I add sugar, of course. I am still hoping there will be iced Assam there sometime this week.
Oh, I found eyeglass findings and such for my mom--I mentioned that yesterday, didn't I? Today, I discovered that I'm just about two blocks from a postoffice, so I sent them off during lunch (and then headed over to get another chai. wheee.)
Yes, I am ignoring my work while I write this. I'm apparently 'too efficient'--my boss all but told me to slack off a little. Actually, she did. She said, "be sure to take breaks." And then she disappeared to a docter's appointment. I think she'd like to keep me around because she thinks she may have to go on short term disability--she was in a car accident not too long ago, and it's not getting better like it should. And on the one hand--notice how many hands there are in this post--I am flattered that after a day and a half of working for her, she'd think to have me do her job while she's out. On the other hand, meeeehhhhhhhh. Don't wanna be admin. *tempertantrums* Though if they make me office manager, I think they have to give me more money. Because I'm sure as hell not doing it for $10 an hour. yes, that's right. HELL.
I'm such a sap (don't tell Dena), yesterday I nearly started crying over a Red Cross Commerical. But mostly it was because Pete was the back ground music, and it's my very very very favorite song of his--"On Your Side." I also love how they cut the song just right. he sings "I am on your side." and the commercial ends before he gets to "I just have to tell you off." It's a love song about being fed up with someone. My favorite type.
