yay! It's public! I can bitch about it now. (I'd snuck in there to read it, so I couldn't complain, cause I couldn't cite.) So there's this fun little zine that I recomend to everyone who likes fun little zines: Say.... I picked up "...was that a kiss?" at WFC last year, and ordered "is this a cat?" when "what time is it?" came out.

So there's a review of "was that a kiss" up on tangent. http://www.tangentonline.com/reviews/magazine.php3?review=849

And over all it's a good review, though I think I liked it more than the reviewer did. but then there's this part where I just want to kick the reviewer.

"Equally entertaining is "Demon, Star, Alien, Cat," by Greg van Eekhout. In the year 2305, the Demon, a member of a KISS-style rock group, is awoken from suspended animation. He decides to rebuild his rock-and-roll empire. The poor servant assigned to him doesn't know what to make of this egotistical, money-driven performer, but gradually he buys into the long-lost idea of rock music. Van Eekhout offers a fun riff on an old sf chestnut, though again there seems to be little relation to the issue's theme."

Little relation? it's a KISS-style rock group. KISS. Get it? (I was *so* proud of myself when I figured that out as I was reading it, because I'm really not someone who would know a KISS song unless it bit me (and then, the only way I would know is because I've never been bitten by a song.) ) hello? How is that not part of the theme? What I liked the best about this collection, I think, was figuring out how each fit into the theme--looking for the kiss--or possible kiss--in each story. So phooey on Jeff Verona, I say.

In other news, I really liked Tim Pratt's story. It was yucky, but fun. I liked the idea and execution for Greg's story, I had some problems with "Okhami," --probably the non-cohereing that he mentions, but I still liked the idea. I don't remember the details of "The Mark" but I'm clearly going to need to reread the book (I read it at WFC during slow parts of panels. Mostly the one on reviewing, I think. I can't remember the next three. "The Secret Identity," I liked. Can't remember Chambered Nautilus. Loved "the sexual component of alien abduction." really liked "Gypsy Joe." Can't remember "Lips." Clearly time to reread it. maybe after "what time is it."

Almost totally unrelated, but have I mentioned to you I'm going to see Kiss (well, we're going to see Kiss, really) on our anniversary this year. It amuses me.

I know, many things amuse me, including your voicemail. I realized it this morning myself. :-)
