Thanks to Gwenda's pimping of Tim Minear's begging letter, I watched Wonderfalls tonight and was *very* pleased with it. Very pretty. Major levels of snark. Like if me and Andrea were writing the dialogue for the show. ;)

It snows outside. Luckily it waited until after my haircut. Whee! Cuteness. I *love* hair cuts. I hate those hairwashing chair things, cause they always hurt, and I look so unbelievably unattractive while getting my hair cut that I'm glad my mom isn't there to mock me. I love it when my scary scraggly fuzzy hair ends up being smooth and sleek looking. I love it when afterwards I can shake my head, and it all falls back into the right places and it's neat and tidy looking. I love haircuts.

I'm in the middle of re-reading Tiger Burning Bright, despite the fact that this read of it is pretty meh. I don't like some of the POV chapters, so I may end up skipping the ones I don't like pretty soon. I also started reading the Complete Ivory, which requires a re-read of the first book, the Gate of Ivory, which I read years ago when Jenny first sent me the book.

I wanted my lyrics for Nighlight, which I know I put in this journal before, but I couldn't find them anywhere. So instead of looking online for them, I read through all my Clarion posts, put subjects on them so I can guess from the calendar page, maybe, and found some really fabulous things in a few of them. I'll put them in a seperate journal entry, though, so people can look at them without having to read about my haircut.

"So, Terry's advice for today: Write the story that wouldn't get written without you. Write the story that only you can tell."

Squeaky wheels, of a literary sort

Poetry vs Prose Geoff said it, I agree with it.

And a nonsequitor, because I wouldn't be me without one: Every boy I've asked so far can tell the difference between a sundress and a dress. And when you say the word "sundress" most of them get misty eyed for a moment. I encourage you to experiment with this one and get back to me. :)

Just when I was wondering about Dora's lizard, she posts an updated journal. January through mid february. it's hard to pick just one favorite line, but I'm going to go with:

At the end of class, the nurse says that giving birth is the most empowering experience a woman can have. Dora has a word for this, which she will not print here. What about ruling an empire? What about creating a philosophy? What about starting a religion?"

Oh, and to add to the amusement with writer journals today, there's M'ris. To be precise:

And then there are a few things I could read but probably shouldn't. A few days ago, Zed or maybe Jym linked to an article about how Bush's feet were not to touch dirt at one appearance, how his flunkies were very clear about this. And I know I've read too many Tim Powers novels, because my brain keeps picking and picking and picking at it: what has he short-circuited, that he doesn't want to touch the land? What will happen to him if he does? What will happen to the country? Will there blood spurting from somebody with no visible wound? Will Ashcroft shrivel up into a pile of dust and then blow away? Will he battle John Kerry with greatswords for the soul of the land? Does someone marry the land on the Mall there in Washington, with the pool right there by the Washington Monument, and what the heck does Lincoln have to do with it?
