I have developed the very rare ability to throw the frisbee with both hands. THanks to equally talented catchers, I actually managed to not suck. :) It was sort of bitter sweet. It's Geoff's last day, and he had a big old party for us all. And tomorrow is our reading, and I'm one of the readers. Which makes me so nervous. I hate reading aloud. but we started these as opportunities for us to practice, as well as a chance to show off our submission pieces. I'll be reading Church of Chain and Roses, which I still love, even though it's bad now. the problem with getting better is that you start to see how bad some of your older stuff is. I love it, and I love the lyricism in it, but it still needs some serious work. It's one of my projects for when I get back to the real world.

Oh, one of the best comments about Blinding that I got was someone who told me he didn't want to keep reading after page 4. See, before 4, I was more poetic, paid more attention to the words than just in how they got the idea across. After that I started getting the story moving, and lost the poetry. And thinking about it, I do want to put that back in it.

Had my talk with Patrick today. I was worried, cause I never know what to talk about with the authors. This was no problem though. Geoff was no problem either, but Patrick I managed to talk with for an hour without noticing. We talked in general about my stories, a little specifics about what I might look at to work with stories. He suggested more short stories--Chekov and Joanna Ruse? Russ? I totally mean to look up her stuff, cause I liked the quotes of hers that he mentioned. He told me nice things about my stories, that they're worth working on, and that means a lot.
