A) I really enjoyed Suite Scarlett. I'm not going to claim it was the best thing ever, but I liked it.

B) My liking of it might be influenced by the fact that I think I'd be a nicer person if I'd had an older brother.

C) I am not nearly as mean as you all think I am. I will never get to rush the Mean Sorority. (Chance is Head Girl. Jessie is Chapter President.) I am not pro mean, I am like, fanzine mean.

D) To make up for not being the mean one, I get to be the cute one. I would have argued that I'm way more mean than I am cute, but I decided that arguing with the mean one was probably not something I was going to win.

E) I've clearly had enough for the night since a moment ago I just thought to myself "wow, I am a little bit drink."

F) It's possible that I should be working on my writing again. we'll see. I make no promises. Chance (who is mean) likes to ask me how long my novel is in front of people who actually write. It's about 4K. They collapse in laughter. It's not my fault, it's still just the first chapter. (I think my Angel novel is longer, but it's not on this computer. Like Rain, which i thought for a while was going to be a novel, is under 3K but very much not done.) And being mean to me about not finishing things is not the way to get me finishing things, FYI.

G) I think my next book splurge is going to be Diana Wynne Jones. I need all of them. Do you know how long it has been since I read Fire and Hemlock? I at least read Tam Lin while I was in college. I don't know if I've read Fire and Hemlock since high school. Maybe not even since middle school. I reread A Sudden Wild Magic by her this weekend and omg, it's still as good as it ever was. And now I want to remember the rest of the books that use that world building, but can't quite. I think maybe Deep Secret (which I have a lovely hardback of, somewhere, but would rather have a paperback anyway) and then The Merlin Conspiracy. (I also need to find my copy of the Spirits book by Nina Kiriki Hoffman, since I never actually read it, and also buy the new one.)

Diana Wynne Jones!

LOVE her stuff. You are going to be so happy to reread Fire and Hemlock, because it holds up so well to time and rereadings. SO good. While you're at it, read (if you haven't already) The Perilous Gard by Elizabeth Marie Pope. Another Tam Lin story and also very engrossing and heart-rending. And then of course any other Diana Wynne Jones that call to you; you can't really go wrong.

Good luck with your writing...I'm cheering you on!
