This year, Andrea has decided that she is going to refer to the pern track as 'the pernography track,' and those attendees as pernographers.

Since I corrected her about the dragons on their shoulders--they're fire lizards, duh--she is calling me a pernographer as well.

(I have been very very close to obsessing--like fanfic, mary sue, whole nine-yards over serieses twice--first with Pern, then with Wheel of Time. If Wheel of Time hadn't taken so GODDAMN long to come out and been such a long story anyways, I probably would have gone obsessive over it. In college, one of my friends who was not, shall we say, made of money, bought me a hardback of the new book when she got hers just so we could both talk about it at the same time. I used to hang out in rec.art.sf.written.robert-jordan. (I was also on a Mercedes Lackey mailing list in very early 1996 with both [livejournal.com profile] shadesong and [livejournal.com profile] wintersweet. That may be the most embarrassing thing I have done on the internet, which is why I always like to list other people who were also doing it. I didn't like the Companion books, though, so I left it and not long after found the Tamson House mailing list.)

This all seems a bit pernicious.

I was a pernographer once -- to the point where I completely embarrassed myself in a social studies class by declaring that I could live on my own totally away from anyone else. I based this opinion, of course, on Menolly's ability to do the same, not taking into account that I knew nothing about pottery, cooking over a fire, catching and gutting any critters, etc.
