Mean things: feathers in the face repeatedly, the realization that they have been hiking for two months, and are not there yet.
Darling: That day at lunch, Amy told us about her heart, how it wasn't her heart at all. Her heart was medical waste. The heart in her body, though, had belonged to a 25 yr old girl who rode pillion without a helmet.
There was some editing of the beginning--even though I am opposed to editing to much as I go and getting caught in an endless loop of revisions before I even finish, I had directly contradicted myself twice before i finished today's words, so i had to go back and fix the beginnings. There was more research on the AT. I think I know how far they've been walking--since the Smokey Mountains, and how far they have yet to go--about 150 miles. So on the one hand, they've gotten this far without Amy. But on the other hand, the trick is not getting from Tennessee to Massachusetts. The trick is finding the right place in MA to be. And Amy probably knows what it is.
The man in Miracles, in the old fashioned seersucker suit, he wants to meet Amy. I'm not sure they'll hit it off, but I do know this isn't her story, so maybe Miracles is.
