Whenever I let the podcasts stack up (these specifically are the KCRW Top Tune), it always turns out that there's a few songs in there by people I know and love. So every now and then I'll be sitting here going, "Wow, this guy's voice is FANTASTIC. I love it." And it will turn out it's an Aqualung song I don't happen to have on the three plus albums I own. I also like listening to the music and thinking "this isn't working for me, but maybe X will like it." So if you got surprise music in your box, that's why. (Amanda, I was going to send you one, but in retrospect is was more because the title is "Night Terrors" than anything else.)
Oh my god. This is a new greatest cover ever. It's Glen Campbell--"Rhinestone Cowboy" Glen Campbell--singing "Sing", one of my favorite Travis songs. He apparently has an album of cover songs out there, Meet Glen Campbell. Now, all I need is Brittny Spears covering Never Be Your Woman, and I think I've got a complete loop-- Glen covering Travis, Travis covering Britney, [missing Britney "Never be your woman" cover] White Town covering Glen.
I still have a limited amount of work because most of my projects are just getting started--I picked up a couple that were nearly done, but everything else got handed over at 'nearly started' phase which means it's going to be INSANE in a few weeks and months, but right now it's all sort of...calm, then storm, then calm again. Mostly calm, which makes me fear I have like, not kept things in mind that I should have. But I think I'm okay. It's a lot more laid back here, so I keep feeling guilty that I'm mad at dates slipping. (At HM, we had more sales force involvement, which I don't necessarily think was a good idea, but it would mean that if we said we'd be launching on a certain day, within a week after that date *someone* would be asking if it was done yet. (Is it done yet? How about now? Now?)) After Xmas it will be crazy-busy, I know. And before then--well I have work tomorrow, and I have to leave work a little early on monday. And then it's Xmas all the way till Sunday, when I come back, hopefully with a carry-on full of cat. So that's not much before Xmas, really. And
OH. TRAGEDY. I forgot my MP3 player at home today. AND I only brought one book, and finished it on the way here. now, it's true that technically this isn't what other people call a tragedy. But those people don't understand: if I don't have a book on the T, I start reading other people's books/magazines/newspapers/blackberries. I read every single bit of text that crosses my sightline. It's kinda Scary, bordering on Crazy. (okay, probably well over the border and just shy of cattle raiding.) Oh, thank heavens. False alarm. Books for me have come in at the BPL.
