Nov. 26th, 2007 01:52 amSo I wanted to be able to finish off my tube-scarf thing, the practice thing I've been knitting for a while in a way that would still be flexible. And at this point while I"ve cast on about 45 things, I've only bound off a couple, and the last one was horribly done. So I decided that I'd use the picot bind off that my knitting book had a picture of. But I really didn't want this bind off to be the first time I'd ever tried it, so I did a practice piece using some cotton yarn I"d had lying around unloved. And I did it! I knitted up a little 5 inch rectangle, and then bound it off with the fancy edge, and it worked! I had to read the instructions a couple of times before they all made sense, but I've seen this done in crochet so once I could picture it in my mind, it made sense--you knit up a little string, and then knit it back down into the fabric.
Yay!
Tomorrow I practice again, and then I'll try the real thing.
