Nov. 25th, 2007 10:36 amI'm apparently the sort of person who gets randomly stopped by a stranger in the park to ask a) what sort of tree we're looking at and b) if the leaf being held up belongs on it. and not only can I answer that, I throw in two bonus pieces of info on the tree, and then have to deal with the guy who asked me being like, "oh my god, how do you know that?"
Why did he ask me if he didn't think I'd know?
(okay, possibly to prove to his daughters that no one knew the answer to that question. "Here, we'll ask this random girl, she won't show me up...." But it was a freaking ginko, not anything tough. And I even toned down my trivia in the answer--I had at least a handful of other things I"d have said if the kids had been the ones who'd asked me.) (he's just lucky he didn't ask me anything about the ducks, as I always have to share the 'half their brain sleeps at a time' trivia bit now.)
In other news, I went through all my back catalogs with a pair of sissors and now have two zip-lock bags full of small pieces of paper: Mine and Others. And then I read about 8 Newsweeks, dating back to mid-September. So I'm up to date on all the interesting articles, like um...huh. Some book reports...and whatever else looked interesting. Okay, they all blended together. It'll take my brain a day or two to sort them out into the right parts.
I was going to read books, as I still have 30 some books to read, but this was also useful as I had to make an xmas list before my mother started getting creative. And I had to be able to lift my bag with the 30 some books in it. Now I'm going to take the lone book and DVD I've watched back to the library, get some breakfast at whole foods, and then come back here and take a shower with olive oil. Since I ITCH.
