I'm pretty sure that if I let myself, I'd keep fancy jewelry catalogs on my shelves (the gorgeous auction catalogs they have at the BPL book sale all the time with all that gorgeous art deco stuff. (I may have just talked myself into getting one of the catalogs next time I see one.)) Anyways, I found the two rings that I'd drooled over when I was sparkly-hunting last month (begining of this month? who knows.) They may not be exactly the rings I liked, but they're close enough to see what I was looking at. The viney one on the bottom of the stack and simple solitare in the middle
My Xmas list, so you can mock the instructions I've given my family.
These are examples and ideas, so I tried to explain why I like the things I'm listing so you know what else I might like if you see them in a store.
I'd like a purse and a wallet. Purse should be about the size of a hardback with a strap that's an adjustable length, wallet should be as small as humanly possible. (some of the below samples are much smaller than a hardback, as I generally like to have two purses in active use--a real one, and something small for things like going out for a drink or just running down to the store.), So far as the wallet is concerned, I haven't used one since college, and right now I have a binderclip holding all the cards together. So I'd like something minimal--I was thinking about the same as a bifold men's wallet, which is about what the below examples look like. Purse wise, I like the style of map bags, with the flap over the front, since they're designed to keep things from falling all over the place when you carelessly throw the bag on the floor, but I'm also okay with direct-access purses. I'd rather have the purse be long and shallow (a horizontal hardback) vs narrow and deep (a vertical hardback). If you're looking at the bag in person, I like them to *not* have pockets against the side that will be against my body. I like to limit the size of the purse because otherwise I put everything possible into it and end up making my back hurt. I like the strap to be adjustable, and thus long enough to go across my body or not as I like. Again, if you're looking at a purse in person, it should be either cheap or completely indestructible as I have just destroyed another purse that was otherwise nearly perfect. I'm okay with any color purse if it's supposed to be pretty. If it's just a shoulder bag sort of thing, I'm looking for a dirt-minimizing color such as dark green, dark blue, or black.

It's geeky as heck, but I'd kinda like the 'pocket traction' (72518) that sahalie has as well--'chains' for walking to work in. I always always am sure I'm going to wipe out and hurt myself in the snow. At the same time, they might be too geeky to actually wear, or they may end up hurting my feet to walk on them, so probably not...
Landsend has some cute slippers: 25130-0234 and 25102-9231 (size 8) The key things are: tough as anything since I wear them all the time in the house, warm, and moderately attractive. I'd prefer cotton, since I don't like fleece/synthetics next to my skin, but no one seems to make those anymore--these have the profile I'm most looking for in a slipper as well--nothing large and furry or ugly.
I also need something colorful and pretty to go over my plain black interview dress. I'm looking for some sort of jacket/duster sort of thing, mid hip or a little longer, colorful, light/impractical, etc. The sort that coldwater creek always has, in a nice jewel-tone, blue/green/purple/etc. to brighten the outfit up a little without making it look like it's a night-out outfit. If that makes sense.
There were also a couple of things at http://www.salebooks.com that I liked: A kliban cats mini-calendar 75025 and the James Herriot Box set 72845
I haven't been wearing earrings much lately, so no more of them for now. I have been wearing rings again, so low profile rings (ie, nothing I can put someone's eye out with or injure myself on the edges of) silver (I'm too abrasive for anything softer, apparently) rings with interesting designs on them (I've probably got enough celtic jewelry unless it's exceptional.) or something pretty. I wear I think a 7.5 or 7 depending on the finger--my index is the same size as mum's ring finger.
A new day planner, small like the one I had for this year.
A new job.
I really outdid myself with the notes about the purse, I know. I'm very fussy about my purses.
