Nov. 3rd, 2007 11:41 pmSo, last night I thought, "I want to walk downtown tomorrow and look at sparkly rings." I knew which two stores I wanted to go to, and I had other ancillary plans as well--library books, victoria's secret, stuff like that. So, this morning, when I woke up and it was cold and grey and dismal, did I do the sensible thing and STAY HOME? No. I went downtown to look at rings. And mind you, there's no reason that I needed to look at rings today, or even any day. It's not like I felt the stores wouldn't be there tomorrow if I didn't go today. It's not like, 9 times out of 10 I'm not the laziest thing EVER, for example. But this morning, I was out the door by like, 12:30, downtown by one. I looked at one store which has always intimidated me, and from the inside, rightly so. I went to the library. I went to the Prudential center because I thought maybe I'd like to get face powder at the sephora, except they didn't have the shade I wanted (vanilla or snow), and even if they did, I'm not sure how to tell if they're right for me. I had indian food, even though it was possibly going to give me an MSG headache (it didn't.) I looked at my perfume at Sacks because brick and mortar Sephora's don't have it. I went to the Gap and got some things i may not have needed and a new umbrella. I stopped at the Society of Arts and Crafts, to see if they had the beer-bottle-opening rings (ooh, website! ) for my other brother and my dad. I also found a little sparkly ring I liked--a dark metal in a twig like pattern, with little sparkly bits on it like buds. ($175, so it didn't come home with me.) And then I went to this really sweet little place I've walked past plenty, and it had some GORGEOUS old rings, though of course I didn't ask prices so they may be crazy expensive, but somehow I doubt it. And they had a pavé sort of ring that was very viney, and that one also wanted to come home with me, but couldn't. And also, while I was there I found the loveliest engagement ring--an emerald cut diamond, with a smaller square cut diamond on either side of it. So pretty! As my mother said, now all I need is a groom and I'm set!
And now, a list of film festival catalogs for my future (IMDB/Netflix) reference: AFI European Union Showcase films (2006, 2005 and 2004 as well), DC Film Fest, DC French Film Festival (C'est Chic), and of course, FilmMovement.
