Work update
May. 8th, 2002 03:50 pmOne of the Associate Commissioners wants me *at least* 50% of the time. Which is guarenteed coverage--ie, I can have nothing to do, sit around staring at the wall for up to 4 hours a day, and still have a number to bill to. And he would have taken more time, only I didn't really want to promise more time to just one project. What I love about this job is the flexibility--other RAs don't work on as many projects. So while I complain about having to fix my timesheet to cover a half-hour showing someone how to recover auto-save files, I like the fact that today I'm laying out tables for the Hispanic report, last week I was making corrections for the Quarterly, and last month I was collecting and jiggling survey data for an international data collection project. It sounds like sap for a review or something, but I truly think that working on all these different projects is what makes me valuable for all the projects--I don't get caught up on 'the way' to do everything, but figure things out on my own. Anyways, I'm all excited by this because it's always a problem getting coverage, and besides, hello, someone specifically requested my work on this project. Me! and just me! :) And not just anyone, but one of the biggest of the big dogs upstairs. woohoo!
