I had an icky eye dream last night, as my left eye is still being a little annoying after the conjunctivitis last week. The dream, though, was *very* icky, and made me want to go look at my eye in the mirror, just to check that it wasn't true.

I apparently have super powers which get people who drive me home from the post-Thanksgiving dinner lost. I apologize for my super powers.

"Until the Knight Comes" is entirely too boring to be worth finishing, so don't expect any more good lines from it. Likewise Traveler--I'm probably giving them both another 20 pages and then ditching them. The new Dick Francis, though, was very good. I think Shattered might be his best of late, but this one was nicely done. I'm not sure it was a *real* Dick Francis, however, since the main character had a family of sorts and didn't get beaten up.

Aha, first review from my flist of the Dick Francis, sounds promising. Apart from the not getting beaten up bit, that *is* odd, they've had family before though, in Decider, the one with the architect and the racecourse blowing up, he had little kids even! <-- and I just googled Dick Francis and architect lest you think I've memorised all the plots.

yes, but he and his wife weren't getting along at all--plenty of the books have a family in them, but they're alienated or dysfunctional (the only exception I can think of is Nerve--the one with the cousin and the musicians.) this is a functional family, which is different. (granted, it's not a blood family, so it might not count because of that.) And it might be stretching it to call it a family, as it was just one or two people, and there have been other books with functional familes of one or two people--Second Wind, 10 lb Penalty. Still, the functional families are definately less common than the dysfuctional ones in his books.

Him not getting beaten up, on the other hand, is very unusual.
