Nov. 21st, 2006 06:07 pmOkay, so I thought to myself, "I'm running late, I'll take a short cut through Chinatown." I'm not sure why I listen to myself, since I never *ever* manage to walk through Chinatown without ending up somewhere subtly different than where I thought I was going. This time, though I got massively *massively* lost, and ended up on Summer street, knowing the street name but totally unable to figure out where I was. (in my defense a) I'm blind, b) they fixed the intersection so it was no longer cones and fences and caution tape and c)the empty stores had been refinished and rented out. ) Which is when the eye doctor's office called and asked me if I knew I was supposed to be there. I figured out finally where I was (about three blocks from South station, across the street from the Sebastians cafe), and how to get where I needed to be, and made it to the eye doctor's. :) (In related news, the whole 'greenway' thing seems to be getting closer to existing. :)
So, we're going to try me on a hypoallergenic (read hydrogen peroxide based) contact solution, complete with a lens case that looks like the things you can buy for washing baseball hats, first with the new (oasys) lenses and then if I still have problems with the Acuvue2 lenses. If that still causes problems, we may try one day disposables. However, to go along with this, I *will* be getting glasses. Curses! Though, actually, I feel better about getting them than I did, since it sounds like we're hoping these will be supplementals, not daily wear. We'll try the sort of glasses I think will work better than the last pair I had (small thin lenses, close to the eyes) and if both eyes doesn't work, we'll correct my good eye up to perfect, and let my bad eye alone.
So. Now I have a week to read up on proper glasses for my face type. :)

Date: 2006-11-22 04:59 pm (UTC)I'd post pictures of me in glasses, but I don't seem to have any, not even of my favorite pair (thin rimmed green/black, with the flattish top-rounded bottom style lenses.)
