Arlen Spector opposed the gay marriage amendment. For Republican reasons, not moral grounds, but it's still impressive whatever his reason is. He is now officially the least evil of the PA senators. Granted, this is not hard, since his competition is Santorum. But still. It's the little things that count.

I don't like Spector's politics, but I respect him because he's at least more of an old-style Republican instead of just being a tool of the Christian Coalition. Or maybe he's just worked out that he can do a good cop-bad cop thing with Santorum and make us like him because at least he's not so bad.
