I dropped my peppers necklace down the elevator shaft at home. There's an inch or so space on the floor, and the necklace--which I *had* just draped over the V of my Vneck because I didn't have time to fasten it just then, but ironically because I hate putting it in my pocket because I'm always worried it will break--of course fell cleanly through it. So I get to find out how to get something out of the shaft today. Last time it was just my ID, and I didn't bother and they found it at the elevator inspection. but this one I want to find sooner rather than later. (And hoping that none of the peppers broke.)

Also, the new Marian Keyes made me cry on the walk to work. And I'm only on page 167.

Didn't you once drop your keys down an elevator shaft, too? Does this happen to you a lot? I've never dropped anything down an elevator shaft. Is this some kind of veiled cry for help?

It was just my ID. I haven't yet dropped my keys down the elevator. And I haven't yet dropped anything down any other elevator I ride on. Come close to, yes, but thankfully that doesn't count. (I do fully expect to drop things down other elevators soon though.)

That happened to a delivery guy at the building I used to work at. They really couldn't do anything to get it out, as the building people refused to call the elevator company out for some random guy's keys. I felt bad for him though.

And as for her, it's a metaphor for something. Dropping her stuff down the shaft.
