Aug. 4th, 2002 12:32 amI was reading the first two chapters of a novel someone had sent me. And as I read, I understood what Geoff had been saying when he said I wrote with novel pacing. There were the same asides in the novel as are in my stories. I ramble at places--a controlled ramble, but still a ramble that looks unconnected to the rest of the story until you get to the right point in story when it suddenly becomes more important. I've always done it in my short stories, even when it's not needed--part of my learning experience here has been about that, about figuring out what needs to stay in a story and what doesn't.
