So, anyone else notice how Carter gave a speech to the Cubans *in spanish*? Anyone else think Bush would have a problem figuring out what language they speak in Cuba, let alone talking in it?

Maybe he, like his daddy's veep, would want to speak in Latin, since it's Latin America.

ISTR that Bush pulled out a few stock Spanish phrases when he was courting the Latino vote. Not saying that he isn't stupider than a houseplant, but I imagine that he could pick out Cuba on a map.

Though I could see Bush getting in trouble by saying what wonderful papayas they have there.

Well, he did have his 'half-hispanic' nephew to trot around when they were in hispanic areas. And Ricky, of course, at the inaugeration. So he probably had some lines--phonetically spelled out, of course--but seeing how well he handles english, I'm frankly scared.
