tanaiseI watched Amelie today. I'm now sad. It's all beautiful and sad and lovely. And now I have the DVD from Free All Angels, the New Ash CD, on while I chat with friends. I gave into temptation on Friday. I went by Olsson's, just planning to buy "Stranger Things Happen" BUt then I had to check the new music section, and there was the new Ash CD. I loved the last album, and the Burn Baby Burn Video had been playing on M2 at Clarion. So I was defenseless. So the CD is good. But allow me to rave about Stranger Things right now.
I'm about 7 stories into Stranger Things. I adore it. They're fairytales, but not retellings. They're modern fairytales (with the exception of Flying Lessons, which is what I was aiming for with my Sound of Doves story--I wonder if I'd read it before. Entirely possible, I suppose, though it came out in asimov's in 1996, so I would have been at college, and I don't know what all happened in SF after I went to college.) Travels With the Snow Queen was fairytale trappings, but it was all mixed up. I'm not doing this book justice. I'll try more tomorrow. Or you can just trust me and get the book.
