First drafts
Jul. 16th, 2002 06:27 pmI firmly believe that the more solid a first draft, the better. Yes, I can revise everything if I have to, but I shouldn't have to. I'm a good enough writer that I should be able to handle these things in a first draft: characters, plot, setting, pacing. Now, I'm still starting out, so I'm not perfect, I know. ANd my characters, plot, pacing and setting have problems, they need tweaking. But they exist. They are in black and white. I don't need to start again from scratch after my first draft. I just have to go back through and fix the problems and add the details that will make my stories shine. I don't feel like I have major problems to repair, because I've worked on learning how to avoid them from the begining.
