Let's see. Hmm. Saturday was the usual slacker day. I did have to help Dena pick an outfit out. Nice, but not too fancy. And if we hadn't gone through her whole wardrobe friday night, we had by Saturday when her entire collection of tanks and shirts and such attempted to kill itself by leaping from the dresser. I grocery shopped in the morning (bought mostly cold stuff--the hazards of shoping when you feel like you're melting), watched bad TV, and did laundry. Dena came and went, I watched British TV, and went to bed. Woke up in the morning for meeting. Remembered my umbrella, didn't think to put my sneakers on. Which was ultimately probably a good thing, since my legs hurt so much by the end of the day as it was, I would have been crying if I'd been in the sneakers. I also forgot to a)take any painkillers before I left the house and b)to buy a small bottle while I was out and about, so I really hurt by last night. I still hurt enough that I cringe when I walk and fall off my shoes a lot, and that's having taken a total of 4 pain killers last night, and three when I woke up.

I finished reading "my Lover's Lover" while waiting for the train, and it was good. Not as good as After You'd Gone, but so little has measured up to that. The language was just as beautiful, but there wasn't as much of a story behind it--AYG had two very strong plots running through it at the same time--past and present--with supporting work from a couple of other time lines. THis one tried to do that, but didn't pull it off as well. If you just gave me these two books, and didn't tell me which one came out first, I would have pointed to MLL as her first novel--all the seeds for the right stuff was present, but not as well done as AYG.

I took a line from the story "I'm having one of those days when everyone looks like someone else", and copied it down just to save, but then started writing from it. It's the perfect start (at least right now) for my memory story. I wrote a page (of a 6x9 notebook) right then, and then wrote three more during meeting. It's...I like it, and I actually have at least part of a plot for it and everything, so we'll see.

Then to B&N where I read all of the new Joanna Lindsay, and then down to the library. I dinked around there for a while, including solving my annoying little mystery where the library claimed I still had a paperback that I couldn't find out, but refused to tell me what the book was. I talked with a staff member about it for a while, but she couldn't get the title out of the machine, so I gave up and decided to deal with it another. (why do I always get non-native speakers when I have complicated problems?) And then I was surfing the shelves, saw a book I had taken out and returned, picked it up, and checked the barcode. yup. So it was checked back in, and from now on, all improperly catalogued books I check out, I hand back to a person, not drop in a bin.

Took out a big stack of books, new and old, and then walked back across to Dena's church. And this is where I am punished for forgetting to call her before church time, because she hadn't gone to church (which really, I should have guessed.). And if I'd known that, I would have taken the metro straight back to North Station, and caught an earlier train. but eh. It's not like i had any sort of fancy plans for the evening.

Oh, and walking back from the train (another of those ideas that worked better in theory), I passed a hair braiding shop, and now I desperately want my hair braided.

And I have work now, so I'll go. Oh, though I do need to share this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8106243255 with all the vikings out there.

You didn't mention the hair braiding...

And thanks for letting everyone know I was a bad girl and didn't go to church ;) Think they'll figure out why? *g*

You mean the exact reason or the more general reason? ;)
