Bah. Should have copied that before I hit post, seeing as how cranky it's been being today. ah well.

In a nutshell.

Called my old job to get an address, got potential work, dependant on them having it and me getting them a price list. so if anyone has a spare list of prices for proofreading/copyediting/that sort of thing lying around, send them on. I haven't a clue what the going rates are.

Secondly, stupid temp agency called back with a job for all of may. All of may, I should say, including tomorrow which is when I have an interview scheduled for. Drat. So I'll cancel that tomorrow, and go off to toil my 35 hours a week at Houghton Mifflin again. Different area, same building. It's a pittance again, but it's pittance enough to cover rent money and TeaLuxe money and wiscon (yay!) money and maybe even new Marian Keyes money as well. (but not monkey money, which my fingers kept wanting to type.)

Thirdly, House called back, and i've got an interview set for May 17th. In the meantime, people should think of way for Andrea to explain how we met. I think they probably just want to know if I was a coworker or what, but one can never tell, and they'd probably be scared by 'we met online,' and the face-to-face truth of 'I crashed at her place so I could go see Bruce Campbell and go to a Vampire LARP' is even scarier, so spin, people, spin!

The spin: What about something along the lines of "professional conference" or "we both work in the same industry" or "friends through mutual connections"?

"Mutual friends" is a good one. You don't have to specify that you hadn't met the friends in question in the flesh. You don't have to specify what interests you had in common. Just "mutual friends."

That's what I told Andrea to tell you--mutual friends.

I e-mailed you a list of proofreading rates--for copyediting, add about $2/hr.
