The hold up is mostly due to the fact that I automatically get culled for the editor to read (which is the significance of the yellow form), and she's not very interested in getting new writers from slush, so I think she tends to just sift through it when she's got a hole in an issue.

Pretty cool that you get auto-culled though. Does your Clarion clout get you that, or have you built up a relationship with her over time, or what? (I don't mean to pry, but I am terribly curious.)
Nine months sounds exactly how long my own story to ROF has been there, so I'll probably be getting my reject soon too. It's going to sound funny but it'll be my first paper rejection (because of my poor submission record) and I'm excited! Unfortunately I think they're going to send it to my Singapore address, so more delay again before I see it.
