Sea Change and other stories
Jun. 24th, 2002 10:55 pmSo productive today. I discovered a folded up shirt on my lap keeps the laptop from burning me--can we say "design flaw" boys and girls?--and worked more on the revision of Sea Change that I've been fiddling with. I'd been bad and took notes on it while critting today, so it was all bubbling around in my mind. Terry's soo cool! His suggestion for the change scene fits the area perfectly, so I've written that part out.
I just have to write a reservior scene where the boy gets attacked by a seal, help him get over that (and the next person who writes "hot fish sex" on my manuscript will be first against the wall, come the revolution. Well, maybe not first. but definately top ten.), write his reaction to being a seal, and then decide what the hell to do with the end. Terry suggested that they end just getting into the car. Current ending is them running into the surf. Who knows what the final ending will be.
Firing the Dead is chugging right along, with an end and everything in sight. It sucks, and has no real twist, but it's nearly done, and that's what matters, right? Well, okay, it's not quite that bad, I'm just not sure how special it is. Guess I'll have to see once it's finished. Goal is for tomorrow turn in, but I'm thinking for thursday is more likely. I've got about two more scenes, maybe more. And a lot of stuff which probably isn't necessary, but hey, everything I took out of the last two was apparently very important. So I'll let someone else tell me what needs to come out of that one.
And "Andy, Only With My Eyes Closed" is also moving along. Not all that much writing done yet, but thanks to Brendan, I'm thinking about it a lot. And may be moving into a writing type mode.
