Feb. 11th, 2004 05:28 pmI was reading a book in bed last night. Well, two, really, as I knew I was going to finish up "To the Hilt" before I was ready to go to sleep, but that's beside the point. I was reading "This Heart of Mine" and I found a piece of paper that I'd clearly used for a book mark at some time. I almost never take book marks out of book intentionally because they usually remind me of something, usually when or where I was reading it.
In this case, it was a receipt, folded in half, for $6.75 with a big purple 22 on the top of it. Cake and tea at Teaism! And so since then I've been terribly in the mood for ginger limeade, which they always had and which I thought was about the best stuff. I think I'll get my mom to go to the grocery store tonight and I'll find ginger to adulterate our limeade with.
My favorite bookmark though is at the start of the...3rd or 7th chapter of Bellwether. I read it in the piazza at the Rome Center, and so it has rose petals pressed between the pages. They were pale pink, if I remember correctly, the sort of rose that almost looks more like a carnation, and they smelled sweetly and bloomed until late October or so. They're a pinkish-brown now, and every time I read that book, I get reminded of study abroad.
