Eh? What are they going to be replacing invite codes with? Anything? Is anyone going to be able to make themselves a free user or are all new people going to have to pay for accounts? I looked around a little bit but couldn't find an answer....

New users will be able to set up an account for free. Then they will be offered a chance to become a paid member. If they choose to opt out, they're account stays a free account.

There was a big news post before xmas. It was a bit convoluted, but it seems to mean that Livejournal is opening itself up to everyone... and anyone.

meh. too late. it won't let me generate more codes so that I can redeem them. No free months or free extra icons for me (not that I've used my 15 or whatever the new limit is).
