pegkerr, I found this, all sweet and pretty. Despite being in the sort of mood that my voice shakes if I have to say words like, "temp agency" or "security deposit", and I keep feeling fragile and neurotic, I didn't get weepy reading it. It made me happy, I think for the same reason that reading romance novels make me happy (and also how sad songs make me happy as well) because they remind me that there is love in the world, even if I can't find it just now (well, not that sort of love--I am gifted with more than enough of the other sorts of love to go around, and I am thankful for it, make no mistake), and there is sorrow in the world, even if other people don't look sad.
I'm working with primary source documents lately, and while the first two days were old documents--the quran, the rig veda, the laws of manu, the epic of gilgamesh--today's been traumatic. I've read a proposal to give the Jewish people part of Argentina instead of Palestine, I've read memoirs of the holocaust, from the POV of a german in charge, and details of WWI from someone in the trenches. This last one is a vietnamese nationalist taking full blame for all crimes his party committed:
On the one hand, I've had a lot of useful in a story sort of way ideas from these books. On the other hand, this book in particular has been not fun and actually very hard at times to deal with. Which is why I liked the link above so much. Because sometimes I need to remember that other people see love in the world too.

I have the honor to inform you that I am responsible for all events happening in my country under the leadership of my party from 1927 until the present. You only need to execute me. I beg your indulgence for all the others who at the present time are imprisoned in various jails.
