It's snowing here--3? 4? inches since 8:30 tonight or so. I can't remember the snow closing number at work. Luckily I finished up the stuff others couldn't do as easily with the project I have now, so if I have to stay home (sore throat all week, and 6 inches of snow? Sounds like a sick day to me.) someone else can pick up my slack. Or more likely, it'll wait for me on Monday.

The Angel Smut may be feeling its way towards a plot. He needs to be on earth for a reason, and all the usual reasons are cliched and/or Dogma-tic. I mean, he's got a wife and family, he's not here to fetch someone back, or to deliver a message or something like that. But a friend suggested that his purpose may be the family. So, I'm thinking the Annunciation, I'm thinking Terminator (yeah, they show up together in my head. It really does make sense though), I'm thinking I need more thinking, but something may be gelling.

And Blinding? Well, I think it may need to be 2-3 times the length it is now. Or at least that I should aim for that in my revision, and just tell everything. 15K is three times what it is now, and everyone who read it says it's that size, not 5K. So I'm wondering, what if I took every scene, every page, whatever, and tried to make it three times the size it is? I mean, it's not a standard way to revise, but I'm weird, and I underwrite as it is, so maybe it would work. It's hard SF. Those people like details. I'll give them crazy details. It's a lot easier to cut things in a later revision, I'm not worried about that. It also needs a better ending, as this one sucks. But plots and endings and all that, they're all in the details, so if this one isn't working, then my details need help elsewhere.

What the hell kinda goal is that for a weekend--"add 10K to a story" I think it needs another scene in the middle of it, and like I said, the ending, but other than that, I like the plot, I think it's the detail that doesn't work. hmm.

So my tentative plans for the weekend are either Angel Smutt or babbling. or maybe both. I'll keep you all advised.
