Oct. 8th, 2006 09:19 pmI told myself I wouldn't start another bad book until I finished Windwalkers. So I started reading it again this evening. I have approximately 100 pages to go, and oh my god. I can't do it. let me just read the last few pages of it, and I'll be back.
oh, good god. He dies! And not even in a good way, just a horribly depressing way. He dies, she goes back to england and marries the second choice boy, who she really didn't like much at all. Because it's okay, she's fated for him and if not in this life, then in a future one. Elsewhere in the book we had such things as, oh, I can't even find the words to explain the awfulness. let me summarize it like this: Look at this picture: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Parahyaena_brunnea_3.jpg
Now, is that a wolf? Have you ever *SEEN* a wolf? cause if you have, the answer would be 'no.' So if, for example, you had this animal showing up mysteriously in pictures, ie, you were taking pictures of your big strange mansion and this animal kept showing up, would you assume it was a wolf? (granted, it would be creepy and strange, but would it be so creepy and strange that you suddenly forgot how to tell animals apart? Now, the thing *is* called a 'strandwolf' but that doesn't mean it suddenly looks like a wolf.
So basically, when I got to the point that I knew it was trying to make me pretend that a brown hyena is the same as a wolf, I should have stopped reading it. Oh my god. I am never reading another Tor Romance book unless it promises to suck significantly less than this one did. This wasn't even a good bad book, this was just *bad*.
So, next thing in the queue:
( Traveler, by Melanie Jackson )
So, I have my doubts as to being able to actually *start* it at this point, but we'll see. It could be better than it sounds. I mean, it's not like it's possible to be much worse.
