Sep. 17th, 2006 01:06 amI discovered yesterday that drinking lowers my inhibitions about impulse buying. I mentioned this to my mother, and said, "I only spent like $30, and there are worst things, like hooking up with inappropriate men." My mother sighed heavily and said, "Yes, but you can't buy grandchildren."
See if I share my fun new games (Talismania) with her anymore.
So there were books (three) and movies (2) yesterday. Today I walked to the library before the board meeting, but didn't actually allow enough time to be at the library, just walking there and walking back, so I ended up a little late for the meeting. Luckily they started with a recap, and I didn't miss anything important. And the meeting itself wasn't nearly as bad as they've been in the past. I also remembered that things like my board membership and the director search committee that I was on have the potential to be useful on my resume (or coverletter), if I write them up properly. I have to read over the job description again tomorrow and figure out how to use them.
And then we went for Japanese hot pot at Shabu-Zen. good food, not bad prices. The shared pot thing can get a little complicated when you're out with vegetarians and people with food allergies, but the waitress we had was excellent. I left before we paid the bill, but I hope they tipped extra, cause she was very nice. I had the lamb again, and a honeydew smoothie, and all the tofu I could coax from the rest of my housemates. I'm currently addicted to Tofu, which probably means I'm not getting enough protein. Next time I go, though, I'm throwing some garlic in the hot pot from the start, since that's what I love best about the dipping sauce (soy sauce = teh yuck)
Oh, so since there was meeting and a movie (just now, after the food), there was also a good bit of needlework.

I think this is day 10? technically, I worked on it a little yesterday while watching Inuyasha, but not much since I was still a little tipsy, and it was just part of the grass, so nothing impressive looking or worth a photo. Today though there was lots done, as I finished the grass and started work on another of the bushes (the blue one). Most of the blank spaces are where i still haven't sorted out the colors--for example, in the new bush, there are supposed to be yellow flowers, but yellow is still unknown. Perhaps I'll remember to take the kit to work this week. I *do* have another meeting tomorrow, but since I'll be clerking, I'll probably not manage to do any work on it there (I don't have dishcrew, at least, for the first sunday in 7 weeks or so, but the downside of that is I forgot the dishcrew I did have last night, and now owe the person who did the whole thing by herself.) But I should have *some* time tomorrow that I'll work on it
