The non-rufus version of "Matinee Idol" is right here, if you don't have it but think you need it. In theory, there may be a couple of other mp3s there as well--"I crept into the Crypt" is there already, my all time favorite randomly egyptian song. I suppose maybe it's a metaphor? On the other hand, maybe not. This band had some scary, scary songs. "Three Guys," for example, about Bryon and Shelley and someone else in the afterlife. And "Wind and Rain" with the traditional nasty musical instrument made out of a dead someone. It's all Red Clay Ramblers (or here if you want to be official), and looking at that tape listing, I see I'm going to have to dig up my tape and get the rest of the songs--"The Face in the Mirror" is so fabulously evil, I can't believe I don't have it yet (Nobody's dearer than the face in the mirror") , And "The Gang's Gone Home" and "Long time Traveling are pretty-sad, but in a bluegrass way, which I don't have much of. Maybe that'll be a project for this week. Or maybe not. I did fix the cable, after all. (oh, and if there's anyone on my friends list who loves bluegrass and has small children (and I keep thinking there is), the first RCR link has links to a site you can buy MP3s of some of their songs, and I *really* recommend "C-H-I-C-K-E-N" because it's probably the most fun to sing ever. Or at least over and over and over again in the backseat of the car.)

I need to steal my dad's CD, and then I can rip The Merchant's Lunch, and have all the songs I'm supposed to have, like Daniel in the Lions den and all them. I should make a list of all the songs that I need--"Breathing" by Lighthouse, and "Breath" by Midge Ure, and I need to rip one of the Robie songs--Angels, I want say, and a song that I can't remember rhe name of by Fool's Garden, a german band, and a couple others, but those are the important ones now. The first is a clarion song I haven't found on MP3 yet, and the others are all study abroad songs.

Oh, and a vaguely writerly question: You're fabulously famous, basically Neil Gaiman all over again, and you have the added superpower of being able to write stories that time travel, so you can be in any shared world antho you want to be in. Which do you pick?

While commenting in [livejournal.com profile] cissa's journal, I remembered what my choice would be: Merovingen Nights. I really wanted to love that series, and I worked hard at liking it. I'm pretty sure Angel with a Sword is still in a box upstairs somewhere.

Lit Idol I would pity them, but I have my own slush.
