State of the Cats

I am in PA. The flights were totally uneventful, the suitcase was also uneventful, though I forgot to swap shoes before checking the bag, so I had my boots on the whole time. I forgot to post when I got here, of course, because my brother, who picked me up at the airport, gave in to the temptation of offroading in the heart of the forest. My life was pretty much on endless loop before my eyes there for a while. Notable quotes "let's see if the brakes work." and "wonder what this would be like without the lights on."

Today I washed the little dogs, ran the dishwasher with the help of the hose, did a couple of loads of laundry, and refilled the bird feeders.

I also saw my cat--Darwin--in the field outside, and I went out to say hi to him, and he totally snubbed me. He wouldn't come get his head scritched, even though the other cats were all about me. (The big orange bastard is coal dusted and gross, so I may give him a bath tomorrow, the black and white one seems to be having a skunk issue--why are these cats so gross?) He looked at me, and then went into the basement. He gets mad at me. In October he came by the first night I was here and cried until I let him in every night. And after I left, he came by for a week to cry for me as well. So he's apparently holding a grudge.

Also, Okie is nowhere to be found. Not coincidentally, he's got a vet appointment tomorrow morning bright and early. I hate this cat. It would serve him right if I went back to boston and got a new kitten. He's apparently been on the porch every morning for the past week, except yesterday and today.

So, yeah. Tomorrow it's shopping for everyone else's presents, and probably more cleaning.
